11/20/09: Pokhara, Nepal

Hey, I’m back!

While we were trekking, it took about 90% of my mental energy to focus on walking and not giving up and not stumbling on rocks when thinking about other things than the road in front of me and putting one foot in front of the other and oh geez why do they make these hills so steep? So by the end of each day, the last 10% of my energy was devoted to figuring out what to eat for dinner (which ended up almost always being fried potatoes). Which left no energy for writing. But now that we are done trekking, you are again at the mercy of my SHOUTY WRITING and run-on sentences. As I type this, Kevin is sitting next to me reading a book. For FUN. It’s quite the reversal of roles.

Right now we’re in Pokhara, sitting in our hotel room, recovering from this morning’s activity.

It's a bird, it's a plane! … Oh wait, it's Kevin.

Nervous smile before my flight.

Yup, we went paragliding! It was beautiful and windy and float-y and really really cool. But the conversation Kevin and I had after it was over really encapsulates the experience perfectly.

Kevin: How was it?
Me: It was really good… Ugh… I think I’m going to be sick.
Kevin: I know. Puke over there. (gestures at the ground behind him)

Luckily, we both miraculously managed to hold in our breakfasts and stumble back to our hotel room to lie down and take a nice long nap to sleep it off. Unluckily, we’re still not hungry, not even six hours later.
